Job Summary
- We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to manage day-to-day financial operations, ensure full statutory compliance, and support management with accurate, timely financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Core Accounting:
- Manage daily accounting and financial transactions
- Carry out account reconciliation and balance verification (bank, vendor, and inter-company)
- Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and reports
- Monitor expenses, sales records, and inventory-related transactions (including cost of imported goods)
- Assist with budgeting, cash flow monitoring, and financial planning
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports for management review
- Process and track invoices, payments, and receivables/payables
Statutory & Tax Compliance:
- Prepare and file monthly PAYE remittances with LIRS
- Compute and remit VAT (input/output) and file monthly VAT returns with FIRS
- Apply and remit Withholding Tax (WHT) on applicable vendor/contractor payments
- Compute and remit monthly Pension contributions (Employer/Employee)
- Support preparation of Company Income Tax (CIT) filings and liaise with external auditors/tax consultants
- Ensure customs/import duty documentation aligns with financial records (relevant given the company's importation business)
- Keep up to date with changes in Nigerian tax law and ensure the company remains compliant
Systems & Controls:
- Maintain records on Odoo (or equivalent accounting software) for bookkeeping and reporting
- Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and processes
- Support internal and external audit processes.
Requirements
- B.Sc Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Solid understanding of Nigerian tax and statutory obligations (PAYE, VAT, WHT, Pension)
- 5 years relevant experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of accounting software (Odoo experience a strong advantage)
- Strong reconciliation and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- High attention to detail and organizational discipline
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
