Job Overview

  • The Finance Manager will serve as the senior financial authority, providing rigorous financial stewardship across the family’s property portfolio, investment holdings, and philanthropic activities.
  • This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a qualified accountant with deep experience in multi-entity financial management, property accounting, and investment reporting.
  • The ideal candidate will be commercially astute, highly organised, and comfortable operating with the discretion and judgement that a private family office environment demands.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Consolidated Accounts:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements across all entities and activities of the family office.
  • Produce consolidated management accounts providing a unified view of the family’s financial position.
  • Present financial performance clearly and concisely to the MD and family principals.
  • Ensure all reporting complies with applicable financial reporting standards (IFRS / FRS).

Property & Real Estate Finance:

  • Maintain accurate project-level cost accounting, budget tracking, and profitability reporting across the property portfolio.
  • Manage revenue recognition for property sales, rental income, and service charge receipts.
  • Prepare and monitor cash flow forecasts for active development projects and ongoing property operations.
  • Track capital expenditure, asset classifications (investment property, PPE, inventory), and depreciation schedules.
  • Reconcile project costs against contractor certifications and payment schedules.
  • Support due diligence and financial modelling on new acquisitions and development opportunities.

Investment & Portfolio Accounting:

  • Maintain accurate records of the family’s investment holdings across asset classes (equities, fixed income, private equity, alternatives).
  • Track investment performance, distributions, and returns at both individual asset and portfolio level.
  • Liaise with external fund managers, custodians, and advisors to reconcile statements and ensure reporting accuracy.
  • Prepare investment performance summaries and net worth statements for family principals.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Lead the annual budgeting process across all family office activities.
  • Develop rolling cash flow projections and scenario analyses to support strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor actual vs. budget performance, investigate variances, and report findings with recommendations.

Cash Flow & Treasury Management:

  • Manage day-to-day cash flow across all accounts and entities, ensuring adequate liquidity at all times.
  • Oversee banking relationships, payment authorisations, and banking facilities.
  • Maintain a clear and current cash position across all family office accounts and report regularly to the MD.
  • Manage foreign currency exposure where applicable.

Tax Compliance & Statutory Obligations:

  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable Nigerian tax obligations: CIT, PAYE, WHT, VAT, and CGT on property disposals.
  • Liaise with external tax advisors and auditors to coordinate filings and statutory audit processes.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and ensure the family office remains fully compliant with FIRS and relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Oversee pension contribution compliance (PenCom) for all staff.

Internal Controls & Governance:

  • Design and enforce robust financial controls and approval frameworks across all transactions.
  • Develop, document, and maintain financial policies and procedures appropriate for a family office environment.
  • Conduct periodic internal reviews of financial processes and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are properly authorised, documented, and recorded.

Philanthropic Financial Management:

  • Maintain separate books and financial records for the family’s philanthropic foundation and charitable activities.
  • Ensure grant disbursements, donor records, and programme expenditures are accurately tracked and reported.
  • Support any regulatory or reporting requirements specific to the foundation’s legal structure.

Administration & Vendor Management:

  • Oversee procurement processes, vendor onboarding, and contract administration for the family office.
  • Manage relationships with external service providers including auditors, legal counsel, and financial advisors.
  • Mentor and develop any junior finance or administrative staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant: ACA (ICAN), ACCA, or international equivalent is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification finance experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or managerial role.
  • Demonstrable experience in a family office, private holding company, real estate company, or similar multi-entity environment strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Proven experience in property or project accounting, including cost control and cash flow management.
  • Experience managing investment or portfolio financial records is highly desirable.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; familiarity with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).

Remuneration

Salary: N600,000 net monthly and above with other benefits.
