Procurement Officer

Location: Ibeju Lekki, Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Procurement Officer to manage the sourcing and purchasing of raw materials, packaging materials, equipment, spare parts, consumables, and other goods and services required for the company's operations.
  • The ideal candidate must have previous procurement experience in a packaging, bottling, filling, or closely related manufacturing company.
  • The candidate should have a strong understanding of industrial procurement, supplier management, cost negotiation, and timely delivery of materials to support uninterrupted production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process from requisition to delivery.
  • Source and evaluate qualified suppliers for raw materials, packaging materials, machinery, spare parts, consumables, and other company requirements.
  • Obtain and compare quotations from multiple suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and favourable terms.
  • Negotiate prices, payment terms, lead times, warranties, and other commercial conditions with suppliers.
  • Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs) in accordance with company procedures.
  • Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of purchased materials and equipment.
  • Maintain strong and professional relationships with existing and potential suppliers.
  • Conduct supplier research, evaluation, and performance monitoring.
  • Verify specifications, quantities, quality requirements, and delivery schedules before placing orders.
  • Work closely with Production, Warehouse, Quality Control, Finance, and other departments to understand procurement requirements.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with approved budgets, company policies, and procurement procedures.
  • Monitor market prices and provide management with information on price changes, availability, and supplier conditions.
  • Identify alternative suppliers and sourcing options to reduce procurement risks and costs.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, including quotations, purchase orders, supplier information, delivery documents, and invoices.
  • Track outstanding purchase orders and provide regular procurement status reports.
  • Resolve supplier-related issues involving delays, shortages, incorrect deliveries, or quality concerns.
  • Support inventory planning by ensuring critical materials are procured before stock-outs occur.
  • Assist management in developing cost-saving and supplier optimisation strategies.
  • Perform other procurement-related duties assigned by management.

Requirements

  • HND or Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of relevant procurement experience.
  • Mandatory previous procurement experience in a packaging, bottling, filling, or related manufacturing company.
  • Strong knowledge of supplier sourcing and evaluation.
  • Proven experience in price negotiation and cost control.
  • Good understanding of Purchase Orders, quotations, invoices, delivery notes, and other procurement documentation.
  • Experience using ERP/procurement management systems is required or highly preferred.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and procurement reporting.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and supplier relationship-management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight production deadlines.
  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.

Mandatory Industry Experience:

  • Candidates must have previous procurement experience in at least one of the following industries:
  • Packaging manufacturing
  • Bottling companies
  • Filling companies
  • Beverage manufacturing
  • Plastic packaging production
  • FMCG manufacturing with significant packaging operations
  • Other closely related manufacturing environments
  • Candidates without relevant procurement experience in these industries may not be considered.

Key Procurement Knowledge:

The successful candidate should have practical knowledge of procuring items such as:

  • Cartons and packaging accessories
  • Plastic and polymer materials

Important Requirement:

  • ONLY candidates with previous procurement experience in a packaging, bottling, filling, beverage, or closely related manufacturing company should be considered for this position.
  • Experience procuring packaging materials and production-related items will be a major advantage.

Salary

N200,000 - N350,000 monthly.
