Role Summary
- We are seeking a detail-oriented Legal Officer to support the company’s legal, regulatory, property documentation and compliance activities.
- The successful candidate will assist with drafting and reviewing agreements, conducting property-related due diligence, maintaining legal records and supporting the company in managing contractual and regulatory risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and review contracts, agreements, MOUs, letters and other legal documents.
- Support the preparation and review of property sale, lease, tenancy and related real estate documentation.
- Conduct basic legal research and provide summaries on relevant legal and regulatory matters.
- Assist with property due diligence, title verification and documentation reviews.
- Liaise with external solicitors, government agencies, clients and other stakeholders when required.
- Maintain organised records of contracts, property documents and legal correspondence.
- Monitor contract expiry dates, obligations and documentation requirements.
- Support regulatory and statutory compliance activities.
- Assist with resolving client, vendor, tenant or contractual disputes.
- Identify potential legal risks in documents and escalate complex matters to senior management or external counsel.
- Support documentation relating to land acquisition, property development and property transactions.
- Assist with company secretarial and corporate governance documentation where required.
- Ensure confidentiality of legal, client and company information.
Requirements
- LL.B Degree from a recognised institution.
- Called to the Nigerian Bar or awaiting completion of relevant professional requirements, depending on the organisation’s preference.
- 0–2 years of relevant legal experience.
- Interest or exposure to real estate, property, commercial or corporate law is an advantage.
- Strong legal drafting and research skills.
- Good understanding of contracts and documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational ability.
- High level of professionalism, confidentiality and integrity.
