Job Title: Corporate Commercial / Litigation Lawyer

The Role
- We are looking for a highly motivated and results-oriented Corporate Commercial/Litigation Lawyer with a minimum of five (5) years of post-qualification experience.
- The successful candidate will possess strong analytical, drafting, advocacy, and client management skills, with proven experience in corporate and commercial advisory, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Supporting and contributing to the Firm's business development strategy by identifying new business opportunities, strengthening client relationships, and participating in networking, marketing, and client engagement initiatives.
- Advising clients on a broad range of corporate, commercial, regulatory, and governance matters.
- Advising on company incorporations, corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and other corporate transactions.
- Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on a wide range of commercial agreements, including shareholder agreements, service agreements, supply agreements, financing documents, and other transaction documents.
- Providing legal support on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and corporate secretarial matters.
- Conducting legal due diligence and preparing legal opinions, transaction documents, and advisory memoranda.
- Representing clients in litigation, arbitration, mediation, and other dispute resolution proceedings.
- Conducting legal research and preparing pleadings, briefs, witness statements, and other court processes.
- Developing litigation strategies and effectively managing cases from commencement through resolution.
- Appearing before courts, tribunals, and regulatory bodies where required.
- Managing client relationships by providing timely, practical, and commercially focused legal advice.
- Delivering high-quality legal services while maintaining the Firm's professional standards.
- Contributing to thought leadership through legal articles, client alerts, seminars, and presentations.
- Providing leadership, supervision, and mentorship to junior lawyers, interns, and support staff where required.
- Collaborating effectively with colleagues across practice groups on multidisciplinary matters.
- Managing multiple assignments while meeting deadlines and maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Keeping abreast of developments in corporate, commercial, and litigation practice to ensure clients receive current and strategic legal advice.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should possess:
- A minimum of five (5) years of post-qualification experience in corporate commercial law or litigation.
- Membership of the Nigerian Bar Association with a valid practising licence.
- Demonstrable experience advising on corporate transactions, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution.
- Strong advocacy, negotiation, legal drafting, and research skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and business acumen.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Excellent organisational, analytical, and project management skills.
- High ethical standards, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Leadership capability with the ability to mentor and develop junior lawyers.
- A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
