Job Summary
- We are seeking a compassionate, professional, and customer-focused Auxiliary Nurse to join our pharmacy team.
- The ideal candidate will support the pharmacist in delivering quality healthcare services by assisting with basic patient care, monitoring vital signs, providing health education, maintaining a clean and organized environment, and ensuring excellent customer service.
- The Auxiliary Nurse will play an important role in creating a positive patient experience while adhering to professional and ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and attend to customers in a courteous and professional manner.
- Assist the pharmacist in providing quality healthcare services to patients.
- Measure and record patients' vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, blood glucose, weight, and BMI.
- Assist with basic health screenings and wellness services offered by the pharmacy.
- Educate customers on basic health, hygiene, nutrition, and medication adherence as directed by the pharmacist.
- Support patients by providing basic first aid and wound care where appropriate and within the scope of practice.
- Prepare patients for consultations with the pharmacist.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of health screening services and patient interactions.
- Ensure consultation areas, screening equipment, and workstations are clean, organized, and properly sanitized.
- Monitor medical consumables and notify the pharmacist when supplies need replenishment.
- Assist with inventory counts and proper storage of healthcare supplies.
- Direct customers to the appropriate pharmacist for medication counselling and prescription-related enquiries.
- Handle customer enquiries professionally and escalate clinical concerns to the pharmacist.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Comply with pharmacy policies, infection prevention standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervising pharmacist or pharmacy manager.
Requirements
- Certificate in Auxiliary Nursing or a related healthcare qualification.
- Previous experience in a community pharmacy, clinic, or healthcare facility is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of first aid, patient care, and health screening procedures.
- Ability to measure and interpret basic vital signs accurately.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer literacy.
