Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, slicing, and measuring according to recipes.
- Cook a variety of meals, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and special orders.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared consistently and served on time.
- Follow standardized recipes and portion sizes.
- Maintain high standards of food taste, texture, appearance, and presentation.
- Ensure all meals meet the hotel's quality standards before serving.
- Monitor food freshness and prevent the use of expired ingredients.
- Make necessary adjustments to recipes while maintaining consistency.
- Organize workstations and ensure all cooking equipment is ready for use.
- Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Assist in menu preparation and daily meal planning.
- Ensure timely preparation during peak service periods.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment at all times.
- Follow food safety regulations and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) principles where applicable.
- Store food items at the correct temperatures.
- Prevent cross-contamination during food preparation.
- Wear appropriate protective clothing and maintain good personal hygiene.
- Monitor food stock levels and report shortages to the Kitchen Supervisor or Chef.
- Properly label, store, and rotate food items using the FIFO (First-In, First-Out) method.
- Minimize food waste through effective portion control and storage practices.
- Assist with stocktaking and inventory management.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and correctly.
- Clean cooking utensils, equipment, and work areas after use.
- Report faulty or damaged equipment promptly.
- Ensure proper handling and maintenance of kitchen tools.
- Work closely with chefs, kitchen assistants, stewards, and service staff.
- Support colleagues during busy periods.
- Maintain effective communication within the kitchen team.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
- Prepare meals according to guests' dietary requirements and special requests.
- Ensure prompt and efficient food service.
- Respond positively to feedback and implement improvements where necessary.
- Contribute to creating an excellent dining experience.
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures.
- Handle knives, hot equipment, and cooking appliances safely.
- Report accidents, hazards, or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Ensure compliance with fire safety and emergency procedures.
- Learn new cooking techniques and recipes.
- Stay updated on food trends and presentation styles.
- Participate in culinary training and skill development.
- Suggest improvements to menus and kitchen operations.
Requirements
- Candidates should possess relevant qualifications with at least 5 years experience.
