Key Account Officer

Location: Lagos

Role Summary

  • The Key Account Manager will act as the dedicated relationship lead for our client's most valuable strategic accounts, including banks, fintechs, Money Transfer Operators (MTOs), Payment Service Providers (PSPs), enterprise merchants, and aggregators.
  • In this role, you will drive top-line revenue growth, maximize partner satisfaction, reduce churn, and capitalize on high-value commercial opportunities across expanding African payment corridors.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Account Management & Expansion:

  • Build, maintain, and nurture long-term relationships with key enterprise clients and strategic partners.
  • Develop robust account plans tailored to driving transaction volumes, increasing revenue, and boosting client retention.
  • Proactively identify and execute cross-selling and upselling opportunities for the company’s suite of payment products and services.
  • Spearhead merchant acquisition and drive the expansion of payment corridors across Africa.

Client Onboarding & Cross-Functional Operations:

  • Coordinate the seamless onboarding and technical activation of new enterprise clients and strategic payment partners.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for key customer issues, ensuring swift and efficient resolution.
  • Collaborate closely with internal Product, Tech, Operations, Compliance, Finance, and Customer Support teams to guarantee exceptional service delivery.

Commercial Negotiations & Market Intelligence:

  • Negotiate commercial terms, agreement renewals, and strategic partnership deals within approved guidelines.
  • Track market trends, competitor movements, and emerging industry opportunities to inform strategic decisions.
  • Ensure all portfolio activities adhere to internal company policies, AML/CFT standards, and regional regulatory frameworks.

Reporting & Portfolio Performance:

  • Monitor account performance, transaction patterns, and service-level agreements (SLAs), delivering regular business reviews to stakeholders.
  • Maintain rigorous CRM records, account pipelines, and precise revenue forecasts.
  • Prepare comprehensive weekly and monthly reports on account performance, revenue metrics, customer satisfaction, and pipeline growth.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: 5 to 7+ years of proven experience in Account Management, Business Development, or Partnership Management within fintech, payment processing, banking, remittance, or financial services.
  • Track Record: Demonstrated success managing high-value enterprise accounts, driving revenue growth, and hitting transaction targets.
  • Domain Knowledge: In-depth understanding of digital payments, merchant acquiring, payment gateways, remittances, collections, and settlement ecosystems.
  • Commercial Acumen: Hands-on experience negotiating complex commercial contracts and managing high-stakes client relationships.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Your success in this role will be measured by:

  • Growth in transaction volumes and total portfolio revenue.
  • Client retention rates and successful contract renewals.
  • Identification and conversion of expansion opportunities within existing accounts.
  • Turnaround time for issue resolution and overall partner satisfaction scores.
  • Swiftness and efficiency of partner onboarding and activation.
  • Accuracy of reporting and pipeline forecasting.

  • Tools: Tech-savvy with high proficiency in modern CRM platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.

Salary

N400,000 - N650,000 monthly.
