Project Manager

Job Summary
- The Project Manager will oversee all aspects of the Benin–Asaba Expressway project, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery in accordance with approved specifications, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements.
- The successful candidate will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage project stakeholders, monitor project performance, and provide strategic leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and successful delivery of the highway construction project.
- Develop and implement comprehensive project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation strategies.
- Coordinate the activities of engineering, construction, QA/QC, HSE, commercial, procurement, and administrative teams.
- Monitor project progress against approved timelines and budgets, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements, engineering standards, environmental regulations, and statutory obligations.
- Manage project risks by identifying potential issues and developing mitigation strategies.
- Oversee contractor and subcontractor performance to ensure quality, productivity, and contractual compliance.
- Liaise with government agencies, consultants, clients, host communities, utility providers, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Review and approve project reports, technical documentation, change orders, and progress claims.
- Ensure strict implementation of Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) policies across all project activities.
- Lead project meetings and provide regular progress updates to senior management and project stakeholders.
- Drive cost control initiatives and ensure efficient utilization of project resources.
- Resolve technical, operational, and contractual issues that may impact project delivery.
- Ensure all project documentation is maintained accurately and in accordance with company procedures.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Master's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or Business Administration (MBA) is an added advantage.
- Professional registration with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) is required.
- Membership of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) or other relevant professional bodies is required.
- Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2, or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience in civil engineering or infrastructure development.
- At least 5 years in a senior project management role overseeing major highway, bridge, or transportation infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience managing large-scale road construction or concession projects.
- Strong understanding of FIDIC contract conditions, project controls, claims management, and contract administration.
- Experience working with Federal Government infrastructure projects, development finance institutions, or public-private partnership (PPP) projects is an added advantage.
