Accounting & Finance Manager

Role Overview
- As the Accounting & Finance Manager, you will lead all financial operations with a strong emphasis onproject-based accounting, job costing, and financial visibility across multiple operating entities.
- This role is heavily hands-on in QuickBooks, ensuring accurate financial reporting, cost tracking, and integration of accounting data into operational decision-making.
- You will play a critical role in bridging accounting, project execution, and estimating,ensuring real-time insight into project profitability, cash flow, and cost control.
Key Responsibilities
Financial strategy & Planning:
- Oversee the financial health of the organization including annual/monthly planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities
- Prepare and maintain financial statements, reports, and reconciliations.
- Monitor cash flow and budgeting to optimize financial performance.
- Monitor project financial performance including cost optimization and provide feedback to estimation and operations execution teams
- Prepare detailed financial models, scenario analyses, and monthly management reports.
Accounting & Bookkeeping:
- Manage accounts payable and receivable with project-level coding and tracking in QuickBooks
- Maintain and enforce accurate general ledger structure across multiple entities
- Perform monthly close with detailed project-level reconciliations
- Ensure all financial data is properly classified by job, department, and entity
- Maintain intercompany accounting and reconciliations (OSSAJ Ventures structure).
Project Accounting & Job Costing:
- Own and manage project-based accounting in QuickBooks, including job setup, cost codes, and tracking
- Maintain accurate job cost reports (labor, materials, subcontractors, overhead allocation)
- Monitor project profitability vs estimate and provide variance analysis
- Work closely with operations and estimating teams to:
- Identify cost overruns and margin leakage
- Improve pricing accuracy on future bids
- Ensure proper allocation of expenses across projects, cost centers, and entities
- Support WIP (Work-in-Progress) reporting and revenue recognition where applicable
- Implement and maintain standardized chart of accounts and cost coding structure aligned with construction best practices
Payroll Management:
- Process payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy in wages, deductions, and tax compliance.
- Handle employee benefits, tax filings, and compliance with local labor laws.
- Maintain payroll records and respond to employee payroll-related inquiries.
- Support HR functions, including employee onboarding, record-keeping, and compliance tracking.
Requirements
Technical Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3+ years in project accounting or construction accounting
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks (Online preferred) – REQUIRED
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Job costing and project financial tracking
- Cost codes and construction accounting workflows
- Multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions
- Strong understanding of:
- Financial reporting and month-end close
- Budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and payroll regulations
- Candidates without strong hands-on QuickBooks and project/job costing experience will not be considered.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and handle confidential information with integrity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA) is a plus.
- Previous experience working in the construction, manufacturing, or real estate sector.
- Experience implementing or optimizing QuickBooks for project accounting environments
- Familiarity with tools such as Planner,Procoreor similar project management platforms is a plus
- Ability to work Monday to Friday from 10am –7pm WAT.
