Backend Engineer

Job Summary
- We are seeking a skilled and innovative Backend Engineer to join our client's growing fintech startup.
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and high-performing backend systems that power our digital financial products and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications and APIs
- Build scalable and secure server-side architecture
- Integrate third-party services, payment gateways, and financial systems
- Optimize application performance, reliability, and security
- Develop and manage databases and data storage solutions
- Collaborate with frontend engineers, product teams, and stakeholders to deliver solutions
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
- Troubleshoot, debug, and improve existing systems
- Implement security best practices and compliance requirements
- Participate in code reviews and system design discussions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- 3–5 years’ experience in backend development (startup or fintech experience preferred)
- Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Node.js, Python, Java, Go, or PHP
- Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs
- Strong knowledge of SQL and/or NoSQL databases
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
- Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines
- Understanding of security, scalability, and system performance
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in fintech, payments, or financial systems
- Knowledge of microservices architecture
- Experience with Docker and containerized environments
- Familiarity with DevOps practices
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Salary
N250,000 - N500,000 monthly.
