Job Description

School Nurse

Location: Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

  • Provide first aid and basic medical care to students and staff during school hours.
  • Assess and manage minor illnesses, injuries, and health-related concerns, referring cases to healthcare facilities when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential health records for all students and staff.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with school policies and parental/medical authorization.
  • Monitor students with chronic health conditions and ensure appropriate care plans are followed.
  • Conduct routine health screenings and monitor students' general well-being.
  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies and coordinate emergency care when required.
  • Educate students and staff on health, hygiene, nutrition, and preventive healthcare practices.
  • Ensure the school clinic is adequately stocked with medical supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain inventory records and coordinate the replenishment of medical supplies.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns, illnesses, injuries, or emergencies.
  • Support the implementation of health and safety policies, infection prevention measures, and public health guidelines.
  • Collaborate with school management to promote a safe and healthy learning environment.
  • Prepare health reports and documentation as required by the school and regulatory authorities.
  • Participate in school events, excursions, and activities requiring medical support.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) qualification with a valid practicing license.
  • 1–3 years nursing experience (school nursing experience is an advantage).
  • Certification in First Aid, CPR, and Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred.
