Account Receivable Officer

Location: Onipan, Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time

Department: Finance

Reports To: Finance Manager

Job Summary

  • The Accounts Receivable Officer will be responsible for managing the organization’s receivables process, ensuring timely invoicing, payment tracking, account reconciliation, and effective follow-up on outstanding payments.
  • The role requires strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to maintain positive relationships with clients while supporting the company’s financial health.
  • The ideal candidate should be organized, proactive, and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate and issue customer invoices accurately and promptly.
  • Monitor customer accounts and track outstanding payments.
  • Follow up with clients on overdue invoices and ensure timely collections.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable ledger to ensure all payments are properly accounted for.
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and payment issues.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and customer account information.
  • Prepare periodic receivables aging reports and collection updates.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve customer billing concerns.
  • Support month-end and year-end financial closing activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures.
  • Assist in improving receivables and collection processes.
  • Maintain professional communication and relationships with customers.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Timeliness and accuracy of invoicing.
  • Reduction in overdue receivables.
  • Collection efficiency and recovery rates.
  • Accuracy of reconciliations and financial records.
  • Timely resolution of billing discrepancies.
  • Quality and timeliness of reporting.

Requirements

Education & Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Professional certification or progress towards certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is an advantage.

Experience:

  • 2–4 years of experience in accounts receivable, finance, or accounting roles.
  • Experience in healthcare, logistics, technology, or startup environments is an added advantage.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of accounts receivable principles and financial processes.
  • Good analytical and numerical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Salary
