Senior Accountant
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Job Summary
- Our client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance team in Port Harcourt.
- You will oversee general ledger maintenance, ensure statutory compliance, and lead a team of four direct reports in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Support the Head of Accounts in preparing monthly and annual financial statements and drive the GL closing process within 5 working days.
- Inventory & Cost Control: Perform monthly Cost of Sales to Inventory reconciliations and investigate gross margin variances and stock losses.
- Compliance & Audit: Ensure timely filing and payment of all tax obligations (VAT, WHT, PAYE, CIT) and manage the audit trail for regulatory reviews.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and review the work of accounting officers to ensure accuracy and procedural standardisation.
- Process Improvement: Recommend system enhancements and process improvements to increase financial efficiency and control.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- An ICA or ACCA qualification is mandatory.
- Minimum of 7 years in accounting, with at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory capacity.
- Proven experience in retail, supermarket, or FMCG environments handling high transaction volumes.
- Deep knowledge of IFRS and Nigerian tax regulations.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (or similar ERP) and advanced Excel/analytical skills.
Salary
N400,000 – N500,000 Gross per month.
