Cardiothoracic Nurse
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Key Responsibilities
- Provide preoperative assessment and preparation for cardiothoracic surgery patients.
- Monitor and manage postoperative patients in recovery and ward settings, including chest drains, tracheostomies, and hemodynamic monitoring.
- Administer medications, IV infusions, blood products, and pain management as prescribed.
- Assist in perioperative care and coordinate with surgical, anaesthesia, ICU, and physiotherapy teams.
- Perform cardiac and respiratory observations, interpret basic monitoring data, and escalate concerns promptly.
- Educate patients and families on postoperative care, wound management, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure adherence to infection control and safety protocols.
- Participate in emergency response for cardiac/respiratory events and support continuous quality improvement activities.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse with current practicing license (Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in cardiothoracic, cardiac, ICU, or high-dependency nursing.
- Demonstrated knowledge of perioperative care, chest drain management, ventilator basics, ECG interpretation, and hemodynamic monitoring.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent is an advantage.
- Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work shifts, including nights and weekends, and perform under pressure.
