Job Description

Role Purpose:

The Head of Procurement is responsible for developing and executing the company’s procurement and supply chain strategy to support the efficient, cost-effective, and compliant delivery of power generation projects and operations. This role oversees strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, supplier relationship management, and procurement governance across corporate functions and Operations & Maintenance (O&M).

As a senior member, the Head of Procurement ensures that procurement activities align with business objectives, regulatory standards, and sustainability commitments.


Main Accountabilities:

The non-exhaustive list of responsibilities of the Head of Procurement includes:

  • Develop and implement long-term procurement strategies to secure best value from suppliers while supporting business objectives, including cost savings, innovation, and sustainability.
  • Manage supplier relationships, including vendor negotiations, purchase order processing, contract management, dispute resolution, and performance management, ensuring quality, reliability, and strategic partnerships.
  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process for O&M and corporate needs, including requisition, sourcing, evaluation, negotiation, and contract management.
  • Monitor budgets and control costs, identifying savings opportunities while maintaining quality and supporting departmental financial targets.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, ABAC requirements, legal and ethical standards, and external regulations, while proactively identifying and manage risks in the supply chain.
  • Lead and manage the plant/office procurement team and activities, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and procurement best practices.
  • Set performance objectives, conduct regular evaluations, and provide coaching and development opportunities for team members.
  • Collaborate with finance, operations, maintenance and other departments to forecast demand and optimise procurement strategies.
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve escalated issues to maintain quality and service standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement efficiency, cost savings, and supplier relationships.
  • Support sustainability and ESG objectives through ethical sourcing, sustainable practices, and by contributing to the company’s Power to Change (PTC) program.
  • Coordinate closely with the technical, finance, and storekeeping teams to ensure seamless alignment between maintenance planning, budgeting, and spare parts availability.
  • Manage the logistics process, including freight arrangements, customs clearance documentation, and import/export compliance, to ensure efficient delivery of materials to site.
  • Ensure that parts and equipment are ordered, delivered, and recorded in a timely manner to avoid operational downtime.
  • Ensure the spare parts inventory list is maintained and coordinate with the storekeeper to track minimum stock levels and consumption rates.
  • Liaise with suppliers to track shipment status, resolve delivery discrepancies, and ensure receipt of proper delivery notes, certificates, and warranties.
  • Support the finance team with accurate documentation for invoice verification and timely payment processing.
  • Undertake ad hoc procurement activities as required to support business operations.


Required skills, experience and knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related discipline; professional certification is a plus.
  • Extensive experience in senior procurement roles, with responsibility for strategy and supplier management.
  • Substantial experience managing O&M contracts within the energy or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong understanding of IPP project structures, contracting models, and supplier markets.
  • Excellent negotiation, commercial, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working in global, cross-cultural environments.
  • High integrity and familiarity with compliance and governance frameworks.
  • Ability to work independently and drive procurement initiatives in a small-team or solo capacity.
