Human Resources Assistant

Location: Coker, Lagos

Employment Type: Contract

Job Summary

  • The HR Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Human Resources Department in the effective management of staff across all units of GUO Transport & GUO Logistics, including drivers, operations staff, and administrative personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in job postings, candidate shortlisting, and interview scheduling
  • Coordinate onboarding processes for new hires and ensure completion of documentation (CVs, credentials, guarantor forms, medicals, etc.)
  • Prepare employment letters and onboarding materials
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records (both physical and digital)
  • Manage staff database.
  • Ensure proper filing and confidentiality of personnel records
  • Support HR audits and compliance checks
  • Assist in payroll preparation including collation of attendance, leave, overtime, and allowances
  • Support administration of employee benefits such as HMO, pension, and insurance
  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee inquiries and HR-related issues
  • Assist in handling staff complaints and escalate issues where necessary
  • Support disciplinary processes and documentation
  • Coordinate staff welfare initiatives and engagement activities
  • Assist in organizing training programs.
  • Maintain training records and track employee development needs
  • Support performance appraisal and evaluation processes
  • Ensure compliance with Nigerian labour laws and company HR policies
  • Monitor validity of operational staff documentation (e.g., driver’s licenses, permits)
  • Assist in preparing HR reports (weekly, monthly, and ad hoc)
  • Schedule HR meetings and take minutes where required
  • Provide general administrative support to the HR department

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 1–3 years’ experience in HR or administrative role (transport/logistics experience is an advantage)
  • Basic knowledge of Nigerian Labour Law
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
