Human Resources Assistant

Job Summary
- The HR Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Human Resources Department in the effective management of staff across all units of GUO Transport & GUO Logistics, including drivers, operations staff, and administrative personnel.
Responsibilities
- Assist in job postings, candidate shortlisting, and interview scheduling
- Coordinate onboarding processes for new hires and ensure completion of documentation (CVs, credentials, guarantor forms, medicals, etc.)
- Prepare employment letters and onboarding materials
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records (both physical and digital)
- Manage staff database.
- Ensure proper filing and confidentiality of personnel records
- Support HR audits and compliance checks
- Assist in payroll preparation including collation of attendance, leave, overtime, and allowances
- Support administration of employee benefits such as HMO, pension, and insurance
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee inquiries and HR-related issues
- Assist in handling staff complaints and escalate issues where necessary
- Support disciplinary processes and documentation
- Coordinate staff welfare initiatives and engagement activities
- Assist in organizing training programs.
- Maintain training records and track employee development needs
- Support performance appraisal and evaluation processes
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian labour laws and company HR policies
- Monitor validity of operational staff documentation (e.g., driver’s licenses, permits)
- Assist in preparing HR reports (weekly, monthly, and ad hoc)
- Schedule HR meetings and take minutes where required
- Provide general administrative support to the HR department
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- 1–3 years’ experience in HR or administrative role (transport/logistics experience is an advantage)
- Basic knowledge of Nigerian Labour Law
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
