Duties And Responsibilities
Purpose:
- Coordinate the implementation of a QMS and its associated SOPs and policies to satisfy accreditation requirements for ISO 15189.
- Coordinate the daily running and processes in the laboratory ensuring targeted benchmarks are met in the area of customer experience, quality, financial stewardship, safety and personnel engagement.
- Identify key issues in project and execution in the laboratory which lead to the successful attainment of objectives. Participate in assigned research projects.
- Initiate new ideas for expansion of services.
- Contributes to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers by following and ensuring team members follow established standards, procedures and complying with legal regulations.
Engagement:
- Coordinate the implementation of a QMS and its associated SOPs and policies to satisfy accreditation requirements for ISO 15189.

Delivery:
- Follow up and ensure all staff to maintain their professional accreditations and licences.
- Maintain and coordinate inventory to ensure zero stock out
- Maintain quality results by running standards and controls, verifying equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and advanced troubleshooting; calibrating equipment by utilising approved testing procedures; monitoring quality control measures and protocols.
- Review logs and registers to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Drafting, reviewing and enforcing new Standard operating procedures
- Support in organising laboratory performance and quality reports.
Targeted Specializes Knowledge
- A minimum Bachelor of Science degree in laboratory science from an accredited university.
- Must possess a valid practice Licence
- Minimum 3 years experience in a regulated clinical laboratory is required.
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience is desirable.
- Candidates must possess a current practising licence and be a member of the Association of Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria.
- Additional training and experience in laboratory quality management systems is desirable
Key Areas of Note:
- Keep up to date with relevant medical research, technology, and evidence-based medical practice by attending continuing education courses and professional meetings, reading journals, etc.
- Research unusual symptoms and treatment options, through consultation with physicians and other medical specialists.
