Logistics Officer

Location: Abuja

Job Type: Full-time (Onsite)

Job Summary

  • The Logistics Officer is responsible for coordinating and managing the movement of materials, equipment, personnel, and documents across Mshel Homes Limited's real estate operations and project sites.
  • The role ensures efficient supply chain processes, vendor coordination, site delivery logistics, and administrative support for the operations team.
  • The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple logistics activities simultaneously within a fast-paced real estate environment.

Key Responsibilities

Logistics and Supply Chain Coordination:

  • Coordinate the procurement, movement, and delivery of construction materials, equipment, and supplies to project sites.
  • Maintain accurate records of all logistics activities including deliveries, dispatch logs, and inventory movement.
  • Liaise with vendors, suppliers, transporters, and contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services.
  • Track and manage the company's vehicle fleet, including scheduling, maintenance, and utilization records.
  • Monitor and manage fuel usage, vehicle documentation, and driver assignments.

Inventory and Warehouse Management:

  • Oversee the receipt, storage, and issuance of materials and supplies across all operational locations.
  • Conduct regular stock counts and reconciliations to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Identify and report stock discrepancies, damages, or shortages promptly.
  • Maintain proper labeling, storage standards, and warehousing protocols.

Vendor and Contractor Liaison:

  • Maintain an updated database of approved vendors, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Process purchase requisitions and support the procurement team with vendor comparisons and negotiations.
  • Ensure timely follow-up on pending orders and confirm delivery timelines with vendors.
  • Evaluate vendor performance and escalate issues to management as required.

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Prepare and process all logistics-related documentation including waybills, delivery notes, purchase orders, and GRNs.
  • Ensure all vehicle and driver documentation (licenses, insurance, roadworthiness) is current and compliant.
  • Support compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards during material handling and transportation.
  • Maintain organized filing systems for all logistics records for audit and review purposes.

Reporting and Communication:

  • Prepare weekly and monthly logistics activity reports for management review.
  • Communicate logistics updates and delivery status to relevant internal teams and project managers.
  • Identify and propose improvements to logistics workflows, cost reduction, and process efficiency.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Timeliness and accuracy of material deliveries to project sites.
  • Inventory accuracy and stock reconciliation rates.
  • Vendor performance scores and order fulfilment rates.
  • Vehicle fleet utilization and maintenance compliance.
  • Quality and timeliness of logistics reports.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or HND in Logistics Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or operations management.
  • Prior experience in the real estate, construction, or property development sector is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with procurement processes and vendor management is required.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Good knowledge of supply chain and inventory management principles.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of Nigerian logistics regulations and transportation requirements.
  • Attention to detail and strong record-keeping abilities.
