Human Resources Officer (Hotel)

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The HR Officer in a hotel is responsible for managing employee-related functions including recruitment, staff welfare, performance management, compliance, and fostering a positive workplace culture that enhances guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Onboarding:

  • Coordinate recruitment processes (job postings, screening, interviews)
  • Conduct onboarding and orientation for new hires
  • Ensure proper documentation of employee records

Employee Relations:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for staff concerns and grievances
  • Promote a positive work environment and team engagement
  • Handle disciplinary procedures in line with company policy

Training & Development:

  • Identify training needs across departments (front office, housekeeping, F&B, etc.)
  • Organize staff training programs (customer service, compliance, safety)
  • Monitor employee growth and development plans

Performance Management:

  • Support performance appraisal processes
  • Track employee KPIs and productivity
  • Work with department heads to improve staff performance

Payroll & Compensation Support:

  • Assist in payroll preparation and processing
  • Manage leave records, attendance, and shift schedules
  • Ensure accuracy of employee benefits and compensation

Compliance & Policy Implementation:

  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and hotel policies
  • Maintain HR policies and update employee handbook
  • Support audits and regulatory inspections

Staff Welfare & Engagement:

  • Plan employee engagement activities and welfare programs
  • Address workplace safety, health, and well-being issues
  • Foster a service-oriented culture aligned with hospitality standards

HR Administration:

  • Maintain employee records and HR databases
  • Prepare HR reports (turnover, absenteeism, etc.)
  • Handle exit processes and documentation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 2–5 years HR experience (preferably in hospitality)

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving ability
  • Knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices
  • Organizational and multitasking skills
  • Discretion and confidentiality
