Assistant Financial Controller
Location: Abuja (FCT)

Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensure accurate bookkeeping in line with IFRS and CBN guidelines
- Monitor general ledger entries and account reconciliations
- Assist in preparing management reports for decision-making
- Support the development of annual budgets and forecasts
- Track actual performance vs. budget and analyze variances
- Provide insights on cost control and revenue optimization
- Ensure compliance with policies set by the Central Bank of Nigeria
- Prepare and submit statutory returns (e.g., prudential reports)
- Ensure proper documentation for audits and regulatory reviews
- Assist in designing and enforcing internal control systems
- Monitor financial risks, fraud prevention, and compliance breaches
- Ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures
- Monitor liquidity positions and daily cash flow
- Oversee bank reconciliations and fund transfers
- Ensure optimal utilization of financial resources
- Support internal and external audit processes
- Respond to audit queries and implement recommendations
- Ensure audit readiness at all times
- Assist the Financial Controller in departmental leadership
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Professional certification (e.g., Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is highly preferred
- 4–7 years of experience in finance/accounting
- Prior experience in a microfinance bank or financial institution is a strong advantage
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting and regulatory standards
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and high level of integrity
