Job Description

Civil Engineer

Location: Utako, Abuja (FCT) 

Employment Type: Full-time.

Description

  • The Civil Engineer will be responsible for planning, designing, supervising, and executing construction and infrastructure projects.
  • The role requires ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with relevant standards and regulations while maintaining high-quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Design:

  • Develop detailed designs, drawings, and specifications for construction projects
  • Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and risk assessments
  • Interpret architectural and structural drawings.

Project Execution & Supervision:

  • Oversee construction activities on-site to ensure compliance with project specifications
  • Monitor project progress and prepare regular reports
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders
  • Ensure adherence to timelines and project milestones.

Quality Control & Compliance:

  • Ensure all work meets industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies
  • Conduct site inspections and resolve technical issues
  • Review materials and workmanship for quality assurance.

Cost Management:

  • Assist in preparing project budgets and cost estimates
  • Monitor expenses and ensure cost-effective project execution
  • Collaborate with Quantity Surveyors on cost control and valuations

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):

  • Enforce safety standards and ensure a safe working environment
  • Identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related fields
  • 2 - 5 years relevant experience (adjust based on level)
  • Professional certification (e.g., COREN) is an added advantage
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations
  • Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.)
  • Good project management and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
