Description
- An accountant manages, analyzes, and reports an organization’s financial data to ensure accuracy, regulatory compliance, and fiscal health.
- Key duties include reconciling bank statements, preparing financial reports (balance sheets, P&L statements), filing taxes, and supporting auditing processes.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, providing insights to support management decision-making.
- Reconciliation & Ledger Management: Reconcile general ledgers and bank accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Tax Compliance: Prepare and file tax returns in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in budget development and cash flow forecasting to support financial planning.
- Internal Controls: Maintain and monitor internal controls to prevent fraud and minimize financial risk.
- Account Management: Oversee accounts payable and receivable, expense tracking, and payroll processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certification: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) preferred for career advancement.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) or IFRS.
- Core Skills: High attention to detail, strong analytical ability, and professional integrity.
Salary
N200,000 - N600,000 monthly.
