Description
- The Account / Audit Officer is responsible for managing core accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and strengthening internal control and audit processes within organization.
- The role involves overseeing financial transactions, conducting internal audits, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and company policies.
- The role ensures accuracy, timeliness, and integrity in financial reporting while supporting the organization in making informed financial decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, examine, and maintain accurate financial records, statements, and reports.
- Post and reconcile journal entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Manage payroll processing and ensure timely payment of salaries and statutory deductions (e.g., tax, pensions, NHF).
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and budgets.
- Manage bank reconciliations, cash flows monitoring, and general ledger activities.
- Review financial transactions, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions.
- Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and reports, and ensuring compliance with established controls and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with relevant tax laws, financial regulations, and accounting standards.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support management decision-making.
- Track company expenses, prepare cost analyses, and recommend cost-saving measures.
- Develop and strengthen internal control systems to mitigate financial risks
- Work closely with procurement, HR, and operations teams to align financial procedures.
Requirements
- Candidate must reside in Abuja, Preferably around Utako.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Proven work experience as an Accountant or in a similar role for at least a year.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, internal controls, audit processes and tax regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Tally, or ERP systems) and MS Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
