Backend Developer
Location: Maryland, Lagos
Role Overview
- As a Backend Developer, the suitable candidate will be required to demonstrate strong proficiency in Go (GoLang) and JavaScript, and play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining the core backend infrastructure that powers our systems and applications across our flagship brands — Trade Lenda, One Kiosk, and its subsidiaries.
- He/She will work closely with the CTO to support system architecture decisions, ensure scalability and performance, and provide technical guidance to the development team where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Mentor and coach junior developers, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the architectural design of software systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Evaluate and recommend appropriate technologies and frameworks to meet project requirements.
- Conduct regular code reviews to ensure code quality, adherence to coding standards, and the implementation of best practices.
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to develop and execute comprehensive test plans.
- Collaborate with product managers, UX/UI designers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliver optimal solutions.
- Communicate effectively with team members and project stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical issues, providing timely support to maintain system integrity.
- Participate in on-call rotations for critical production issues.
- Writing reports & Conducting development tests.
- Conceiving and implementing concepts, guidelines, and strategies in various creative projects
- Periodically reviewing and advising the Tech Line Management on customer insights, market, and industry trends.
- Mentoring, coaching, and providing staff leadership as well as inspiration to drive change and build team spirit.
Requirements
- B.Sc Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, and its relevant courses with 2 - 3 years of experience.
- Proficiency in Go (Golang), Node.js, Java, or Python
- Experience designing and building RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs
- Strong understanding of application architecture and system design
- Knowledge of authentication, authorization, and session management
- Experience building scalable, secure backend services
- Ability to translate UI/UX designs into clean, functional interfaces
- Experience consuming RESTful APIs and handling async operations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
Reporting Line:
- This role reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) / Head of the Tech Unit.
Salary
N250,000 - N300,000 Monthly.
