Account Officer

Job Summary
- The Account Officer will be responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with audit and compliance engagements, and providing accounting support to multiple client accounts.
- The role requires strong attention to detail, sound accounting knowledge, and the ability to work in a professional consulting environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate accounting records, ledgers, and supporting schedules for client accounts.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements in line with applicable accounting standards.
- Support audit assignments by preparing working papers, schedules, and required documentation.
- Handle bank reconciliations, journal entries, expense tracking, and account reconciliations.
- Assist with tax computations, filings, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Support payroll processing and related statutory deductions where required.
- Liaise with clients to obtain financial information and resolve accounting queries.
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of financial records for audit and compliance purposes.
- Support senior accountants and audit managers on consulting and assurance engagements.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical accounting standards.
Requirements
- First degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 1–2 years relevant experience in an accounting firm, consulting firm, or audit environment.
- Sound knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g. Sage, QuickBooks, Tally, or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with clients and internal teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple client tasks effectively.
