Factory Manager

Job Summary
We are seeking a results-driven and hands-on Factory Manager to oversee daily operations in our steel manufacturing facility.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating production activities, supervising technical teams, and ensuring that output, safety, and quality standards are consistently achieved.
This role requires strong operational leadership, practical experience with industrial machinery, and the ability to manage people and processes in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day factory operations to ensure production targets are met; develop and implement production schedules; monitor workflow across all sections of the plant to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
Supervise the operation and maintenance of critical equipment including control systems, high-speed metal cut-off units, high-frequency induction heating systems, and pneumatic controls; coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance to reduce breakdowns and production losses.
Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations; enforce safety policies and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE); conduct routine safety inspections and address identified risks immediately.
Lead and manage production staff, supervisors, and technical operators; assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure discipline and accountability across shifts; provide on-the-job training and mentorship where necessary.
Monitor production quality to meet company and industry standards; implement corrective actions for defects or inefficiencies; drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
Oversee raw material usage, monitor stock levels, and coordinate with procurement to ensure uninterrupted production; control operational costs without compromising safety or quality.
Maintain accurate records of production output, machine performance, downtime, safety incidents, and staff attendance; prepare periodic operational reports for management review.
Work closely with engineering, maintenance, procurement, and management teams to ensure seamless operations and timely resolution of technical or operational challenges.
Qualifications & Requirements
BSc or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline
Strong understanding of production planning, industrial equipment management, and plant operations
Demonstrated experience managing technical teams in a manufacturing environment
Practical knowledge of industrial safety standards and regulatory compliance
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Ability to work onsite and and remain actively engaged on the production floor.
Salary
N200,000 per month.
