Electrical Engineer

Job Summary
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment in oil and gas facilities, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.
The role requires strong technical competence in power systems, hazardous area installations, instrumentation interface, and preventive maintenance within industrial environments.
Preferred candidates will be resident in Port Harcourt, Rivers State or willing to relocate as the role is at Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Design:
Develop electrical system designs, load calculations, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications.
Prepare engineering drawings, BOQs, and technical documentation.
Review and interpret client specifications, P&IDs, and project requirements.
Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, NEMA, and Nigerian regulatory standards.
Installation & Commissioning:
Supervise installation of transformers, switchgear, MCCs, generators, UPS systems, lighting systems, and power distribution networks.
Conduct pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
Perform system testing (insulation resistance, continuity, earth resistance, protection relay testing).
Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
Diagnose faults in LV/MV/HV systems and implement corrective actions.
Provide technical support during plant shutdowns and turnarounds.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure adherence to HSE policies and industry safety standards.
Participate in risk assessments (HAZOP, HAZID).
Ensure compliance with hazardous area classifications (Zone 1 & Zone 2 environments).
Project & Stakeholder Management:
Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies.
Prepare progress reports and technical documentation.
Support procurement processes through technical evaluations.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree (B.Eng./B.Sc.) in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum of 1–5 years’ experience in oil & gas servicing, EPC, or industrial power systems.
COREN registration (or in view) is mandatory.
NSE membership is an added advantage.
Person Specification:
Strong knowledge of power generation and distribution systems.
Experience in hazardous area electrical installations (ATEX/IECEx knowledge preferred).
Proficiency in electrical design software (AutoCAD, ETAP, EPLAN, or similar).
Sound knowledge of PLC systems and industrial automation is an advantage.
Understanding of instrumentation interface and control systems.
Salary
N350,000 - N500,000 monthly.
