Cyber Security Engineer

Job Summary
The Senior Cyber Security Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization’s security architecture and controls to protect systems, networks, and data.
This role leads technical security initiatives, responds to advanced threats, and partners with IT and business teams to embed security into infrastructure, applications, and operations.
Key Responsibilities
Security Engineering & Architecture:
Design, implement, and maintain security solutions across network, endpoint, cloud, and application environments
Evaluate and deploy security tools such as PAM, MDM, SIEM, EDR, DLP, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and vulnerability scanners
Develop and maintain security standards, architectures, and technical controls
Threat Detection & Incident Response:
Monitor, analyze, and respond to security alerts and incidents
Lead incident response activities including containment, eradication, and recovery
Conduct root cause analysis and post-incident reviews
Vulnerability & Risk Management:
Lead vulnerability scanning, penetration testing coordination, and remediation efforts
Perform risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies
Work with infrastructure and application teams to remediate security gaps
Cloud & Infrastructure Security:
Secure cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) including IAM, network security, logging, and monitoring
Implement security best practices for servers, endpoints, and network devices
Support secure configuration management and hardening standards
Compliance & Governance:
Support security compliance initiatives (ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST, PCI-DSS, etc.)
Assist with audits, regulatory reviews, and third-party risk assessments
Maintain security documentation, policies, and procedures
Collaboration & Leadership:
Act as a technical security subject matter expert for IT and engineering teams
Mentor junior security engineers and analysts
Provide security guidance for projects, system implementations, and architectural reviews
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5–8+ years of experience in cybersecurity or security engineering roles
Strong hands-on experience with security tools and technologies
In-depth knowledge of network security, operating systems, and cloud platforms
Experience leading incident response and vulnerability management efforts
Preferred Qualifications:
Industry certifications (CISSP, CISM, CEH, GCIH, OSCP, CCSP, Security+)
Experience with SIEM platforms (Splunk, Sentinel, QRadar, etc.)
Knowledge of scripting or automation (Python, PowerShell, Bash)
Experience with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD security
Familiarity with zero-trust architectures
