Accountant / Store Keeper
Location: Port Harcourt - Rivers / Asaba - Delta
Job Description
- Our client, a growing distributor of Innovative construction and civil engineering products, is looking for a smart & reliable and Accountant / Store Keeper to take ownership of its financial records, tax compliance and inventory operations.
- This is NOT a sit-down-and-wait accounting role.
- The successful candidate will be trusted with the numbers behind the business—from daily transactions and reconciliations to VAT, WHT, CIT, stock movement and management reporting.
- And because the company currently operates without dedicated accounting software, you must be genuinely comfortable managing accounting and inventory records using Microsoft Excel.
Your Mission
You will be responsible for ensuring:
- Every transaction is properly recorded
- Every naira is accounted for
- Every tax obligation is tracked and met on time
- Every stock movement is documented
- Every product in the store can be traced
- Management always has a clear picture of the company’s financial and stock position.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Bookeeping:
- Maintain accurate books, cashbook and financial records
- Record sales, purchases, expenses, receipts and payments
- Monitor receivables and payables
- Perform cash and bank reconciliations
- Prepare weekly/monthly financial reports
- Track income, expenditure and cash flow
- Maintain proper financial documentation and filing
Tax & Statutory Compliance:
- Handle records relating to VAT, WHT and CIT in accordance with CURRENT TAX laws
- Prepare and maintain tax schedules and supporting documents
- Track tax payment and filing deadlines
- Maintain tax compliance records and certificates
- Liaise with auditors, tax consultants and relevant agencies when required.
Store & Inventory:
- Receive, record and issue products/materials
- Maintain accurate stock records
- Track stock received, issued, transferred and returned
- Conduct physical stock counts and reconciliations
- Investigate shortages, damages and discrepancies
- Monitor stock levels and alert management when replenishment is required
- Ensure products are properly arranged, labelled and safely stored.
Excel & Management Reporting
- Build and maintain Excel-based accounting and inventory records
- Track sales, expenses, stock, receivables, payables and tax obligations
- Prepare bank, cash, stock and tax reconciliation schedules
- Produce clear reports that management can actually use.
Who We Are Looking For
You should have:
- HND/B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline
- Practical bookkeeping/accounting experience
- Working knowledge of Nigerian VAT, WHT and CIT
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to reconcile figures and identify discrepancies
- Experience in accounting, inventory or store management is an advantage
- Experience in trading, distribution, construction, building materials or civil engineering will be an added advantage.

Salary
N200,000 per month.
