Job Description
- Teach Geography and History effectively across the assigned classes and levels.
- Prepare detailed lesson plans, teaching materials, assessments, and schemes of work.
- Deliver engaging, student-centred lessons using appropriate teaching methods and educational technology.
- Develop students’ knowledge of geographical concepts, historical events, critical thinking, research, and analytical skills.
- Conduct tests, examinations, practical activities, assignments, and continuous assessments.
- Monitor students’ academic progress and provide appropriate support where necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of students’ attendance, performance, and academic development.
- Participate actively in departmental meetings, school activities, excursions, and co-curricular programmes.
- Maintain good classroom management and uphold the school’s academic and behavioural standards.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and school management to support students’ overall development.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the school’s academic programmes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.Ed., B.A., B.Sc. Ed., or equivalent) in Geography, History, Education, or a related field.
- 4–7 years of relevant teaching experience, preferably in a reputable secondary school.
- Strong knowledge of the Nigerian secondary-school curriculum and relevant external examination standards.
- Proven ability to teach Geography and/or History effectively at secondary-school level.
- Excellent communication, classroom management, assessment, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use computers and educational technology effectively in teaching and learning.
- Candidates should be resident in Ibadan or within reasonable commuting distance of Ibadan.
- Must demonstrate professionalism, integrity, commitment, and a passion for teaching.
- Relevant teaching qualifications or professional certifications will be an added advantage.
Salary
N90,000 - N100,000 / month.
