Fleet Officer

Location: Lagos Island, Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time

Department/Team: Logistics & Operations

Role Overview

  • The Fleet Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance scheduling, and regulatory compliance of the organization’s vehicle fleet.
  • This role is central to ensuring operational continuity, driver accountability, and cost control across the fleet function.
  • The successful candidate will combine strong administrative discipline with a practical understanding of vehicle management and logistics operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of all fleet vehicles, including documentation, licensing, and insurance status.
  • Schedule and monitor routine vehicle maintenance and service to minimize downtime.
  • Track fuel consumption and vehicle utilization to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Coordinate driver assignments, schedules, and adherence to route plans.
  • Ensure all fleet vehicles and drivers comply with relevant regulatory, safety, and company policy requirements.
  • Investigate and document incidents, accidents, or vehicle faults, escalating as required.
  • Liaise with mechanics, vendors, and service providers to ensure timely and cost-effective repairs.
  • Prepare periodic fleet performance and cost reports for management review.

Required Qualifications & Competencies

  • Bachelor's Degree or HND in Logistics, Transport Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2 – 4 years’ experience managing a fleet of ten or more commercial vehicles Experience with GPS tracking or telematics systems.
  • Working knowledge of vehicle maintenance scheduling and fleet management software.
  • Familiarity with relevant road transport regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking and reporting.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping discipline.
  • Sound judgement in managing driver conduct and resolving operational issues.
  • Effective communication skills for liaising with drivers, vendors, and management.
  • Ability to remain calm and decisive when responding to incidents.

Salary

N300,000 / Month.
