Role Overview
- The Fleet Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance scheduling, and regulatory compliance of the organization’s vehicle fleet.
- This role is central to ensuring operational continuity, driver accountability, and cost control across the fleet function.
- The successful candidate will combine strong administrative discipline with a practical understanding of vehicle management and logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up to date records of all fleet vehicles, including documentation, licensing, and insurance status.
- Schedule and monitor routine vehicle maintenance and service to minimize downtime.
- Track fuel consumption and vehicle utilization to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Coordinate driver assignments, schedules, and adherence to route plans.
- Ensure all fleet vehicles and drivers comply with relevant regulatory, safety, and company policy requirements.
- Investigate and document incidents, accidents, or vehicle faults, escalating as required.
- Liaise with mechanics, vendors, and service providers to ensure timely and cost-effective repairs.
- Prepare periodic fleet performance and cost reports for management review.
Required Qualifications & Competencies
- Bachelor's Degree or HND in Logistics, Transport Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2 – 4 years’ experience managing a fleet of ten or more commercial vehicles Experience with GPS tracking or telematics systems.
- Working knowledge of vehicle maintenance scheduling and fleet management software.
- Familiarity with relevant road transport regulations and documentation requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking and reporting.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping discipline.
- Sound judgement in managing driver conduct and resolving operational issues.
- Effective communication skills for liaising with drivers, vendors, and management.
- Ability to remain calm and decisive when responding to incidents.
Salary
N300,000 / Month.
