Overview
- We are recruiting a proactive and resourceful Procurement Officer to support the procurement operations of a fast-paced supermarket business.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing quality products, negotiating with suppliers, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring the timely procurement of goods at competitive prices.
- This role requires a procurement professional with hands-on supermarket procurement experience, strong negotiation skills, and good knowledge of the Lagos market and supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure products, materials, and supplies required for daily supermarket operations.
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure quality products at competitive prices.
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors and ensure timely delivery of purchased goods.
- Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with the Inventory Officer to prevent stock shortages and overstocking.
- Conduct market surveys to identify new suppliers, pricing trends, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare purchase orders and ensure accurate procurement documentation.
- Verify the quality and quantity of supplied goods against purchase orders.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve procurement-related issues promptly.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.
- Prepare periodic procurement reports and perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Requirements
- Minimum of OND in Business Administration, Purchasing & Supply, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Procurement Officer within a supermarket or retail business (mandatory).
- Proven experience sourcing a wide range of supermarket products and managing supplier relationships.
- Good knowledge of the Lagos market, supplier network, and major commercial areas.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and make sound purchasing decisions.
- Male candidates are preferred for this role based on the client's operational requirements.
- Willingness to reside in the company's shared staff accommodation.
