Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Associate Accountant to support the finance and operations function of a fast-paced media organization. The successful candidate will assist with financial reporting, reconciliations, statutory compliance, vendor payments, budgeting, and finance-related executive support.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate general ledger entries and support monthly bank reconciliations.
Track expenses, process transactions, staff reimbursements, and petty cash.
Monitor invoices and follow up on outstanding payments.
Prepare financial reports, summaries, forecasts, and analysis.
Support tax, statutory, procurement, vendor, and freelancer payments.
Assist with budget monitoring and ensure adherence to approved budgets.
Maintain organized digital records of financial documents.
Support the management team with investor reports, partner budgets, grants, and board reporting.
Assist with the administration of bank accounts, payment platforms, and regulatory platforms.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
ACCA, CPA, or equivalent professional accounting certification is mandatory.
3–5 years of relevant accounting/finance experience, preferably in banking, consulting, or a highly professional corporate environment.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets and accounting software, particularly QuickBooks.
Good knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements.
Experience with payment platforms such as Paystack, Stripe, or PayPal is an advantage.
Familiarity with virtual workspace tools such as Notion is desirable.
Strong analytical, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information.
Ability to work independently and effectively in a dynamic environment.
